Production process of synthetic rubber
2024-06-19
The production process of synthetic rubber can be roughly divided into three parts: the synthesis and purification of monomers, the polymerization process and the post-treatment of rubber.
refining method
The basic raw material of synthetic rubber is monomer, and the common methods of refining are distillation, washing, drying and so on.
polymerization process
The polymerization process is a process in which monomers are polymerized under the action of initiators and catalysts to produce polymers. Sometimes one polymerization device is used, sometimes multiple are used in series. The polymerization process of synthetic rubber is mainly used in emulsion polymerization and solution polymerization. Emulsion polymerization of styrene butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, butyl propylene rubber, butyl rubber, etc.
Post-processing
Post-treatment is to make the material (latex or glue) after the polymerization reaction, through the removal of unreacted monomer, coagulation, dehydration, drying and packaging steps, the process of making finished rubber. The coagulation process of emulsion polymerization mainly uses electrolyte or polymer coagulant to destroy the emulsion and precipitate the colloidal particles. The coagulation process of solution polymerization is mainly hot water coagulation. The colloidal particles precipitated after coagulation contain a large amount of water and need to be dehydrated and dried.
